Indications/Uses
Hypovolemia, cardiopulmonary bypass procedure, acute nephrosis, hypoalbuminemia, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, adult resp distress syndrome. Prevention of central vol depletion after paracentesis due to cirrhotic ascites.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV Adult including renal dialysis Initial dose: 20 g. Acute liver failure 12-25 g. Pre- & post-op hypoproteinemia 50-75 g. Burn therapy after 24 hr 25 g. Maintain plasma protein conc 2.5 g/100 mL. Third space protein loss due to infection 50-100 g.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to albumin prep. Severe anemia or cardiac failure w/ normal or increased intravascular vol.
Special Precautions
Monitor regurarly for hemodynamic parameters during administration.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactoid type reaction.
Drug Interactions
Not to be mixed w/ other medicinal products.
